| | HOW DOES TURBO-FLOW WORK? |  Before
 After | When a mineral dissolves in water, it disassociates into charged particles of opposite charge, known as ions. Those with a positive electrical charge are known as 'cations', and those with a negative charge are known as 'anions'.
It is a proven electro-chemical phenomenon that, when an electrical current is passed through a solution containing ions, electrolysis takes place and deposition occurs on equipment.
Greater deposition will occur:
- If the water quality is poor, i.e. if it contains large amounts of dissolved solids;
- If the piping and associated equipment consists of two or more dissimilar metals; or
- with evaporation and subsequent crystallization, if the water is heated.
To stop this deposition, the ions have to be neutralized to form uncharged atoms and molecules, so that they can be flocculated as a suspension in the water, rather than a deposition on equipment. This process is achieved with the aid of the Turbu-Flow's complex alloy element. This element is made of numerous metals, scientifically selected from the galvanic scale.
When the ion-laden water comes into contact with the element, the ions are attracted onto the element, causing them to be neutralized. Due to the critical configuration of the water velocity over the elements, turbulence is created and the ions are washed off in a harmless colloidal suspension as neutral particles.
The neutral particles are then removed in a variety of ways:
- they are flushed out in an open system;
- they collect in the low point of a vessel, in a soft state to be removed periodically; or
- they can be removed through a totally dissolved solids bleed

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is Turbu-Flow? A. Turbu-Flow is a water conditioner designed specifically to prevent costly problems of scale build up in any water transfer system.
Q. Does Turbu-Flow use chemicals to remove scale? A. No - Turbu-Flow is a chemical free solution to problems of scale build up and eliminates the need for expensive chemical systems.
Q. How will Turbu-Flow save me money? A. Turbu-Flow will save you money by: - Eliminating and preventing the build up of heat wasting scale!
- Eliminating the need for costly chemical cleaners and the resultant pollutants!
- Reducing downtime and maintenance costs!
- Protecting your investment in capital equipment!
Q. Will Turbu-Flow change the taste of my water? A. No - being a water conditioner and not a water softener or filter, Turbu-Flow does not alter the taste, texture, appearance, odour, or colour of the water.
Q. Water temperature - does it make a difference? A. The temperature of the water makes no difference. Turbu-Flow works efficiently in hot or cold water.
Q. Is Turbu-Flow difficult to install? A. Turbu-Flow is simple to install. Locate the position in your system for the unit, remove the corresponding length of pipe and install the Turbu-Flow ....simple! It makes no difference at what attitude Turbu-Flow is installed ie. vertically, horizontally, or angled with flow from either end.
Q. Does Turbu-Flow require maintenance? A. No ...Turbu-Flow requires no on-going maintenance once installed.

Saving Time and Money!

| Maintenance on this 21kw electrical element was time consuming and expensive. The solid mass of scale around the element would have to be chipped and scrapped away.
|
| When a Model 2034 was installed on the inlet line to the steam generator, maintenance time was reduced. As can be seen, the soft sludge build up around the element is easily removed using minimum effort!
| | The result being a huge saving in time and costs to the mining company! There is also the added cost saving of not having to generate steam through 2" of heat wasting scale! |

TURBU-FLOW will accommodate any water carrying application. There is a Turbu-Flow model to suit your requirements! SPECIFICATIONS SELECTION MADE EASY - Determine the average flow rate of the supply line to be protected.
- Use the flow chart to match the average flow rate.
For example, The average flow rate of the supply line to the hot water system is 25 litres per minute. From the specifications chart above you will see that the flow rate falls between a Model 1218 (18 l/m) and Model 2034 (34 l/m). The correct Turbu-Flow would be the Model 1218 rated at 18 litres per minute. In all borderline cases it is better to select a size smaller Turbu-Flow unit to gain maximum performance. |
